Pitchers with perfect game scores (and understanding negative FIP)
On June 12, Jacob Misiorowski had a game score of 100, the only pitcher to do so this year. He went all 9 innings, striking out 15 guys in only 95 pitches, an extraordinary feat hereby referred to as a Mizzux: a complete game with 12+ strikeouts and under 100 pitches. This has actually only happened 5 times in baseball history, but Miz has the highest strikeout total out of all of them at 15.

Miz also has a negative FIP, which I don't even understand, so I went to the magic AI box to figure it out. I'll never post any AI-written content on this site, so the below is my understanding of what I learned.
So, when FIP is calculated, the formula has two parts. The equation that incorporates the pitcher stats, and a constant rate added to that formula after it is calculated. Historically, that constant rate is around 3.1.
When a negative FIP occurs , it just means that the equation values the statistics of the performance more than the constant rate it adds back into the formula, creating a negative number. The cool part is that the constant rate is strategically 3.1 in order to purposefully avoid negative-number outcomes, so getting one essentially means that you had such a good game, you broke the system.
Here's the formula:
FIP = [13(HR) + 3(BB+HBP) -2(K)/IP] + FIP Constant
Now, let's plug in the values from Miz's game on June 12.
FIP = [13(0) + 3(0) - 2(15) / 9] + 3.1 = -2.3333

Now that we've reached our obligatory Miz quota, let's take a look at who else has good game scores in 2026.
No other pitcher has topped a game score of 95, with Dylan Cease (94), Dustin May (93), Reid Detmers (90), and Bailey Ober (90) rounding out the top 5.

Interestingly, Toronto pitcher Dylan Cease's 94 came against Boston in Boston, whereas the 6th best pitching game this year was Boston pitcher Ranger Suarez's 89, which came against Toronto in Toronto.
Speaking of Cease, he is the owner of both the 2nd best (94) and 7th best (88) games this year by game score. The only other pitchers to have multiple games in the top 20 are Drew Rasmussen and Paul Skenes, tallying two each.
